Designer SpotlightThe Women of Eco-DesignAt Green With Glamour our ultimate goal is to provide our global clientele with the most stylish & sublimely crafted "green" fashion, furnishings & gifts - thus promoting the very attainable concept of easy, eco-chic. Equally important is for GWG to support & celebrate the like-minded designers who make Green With Glamour - and Eco-Design, in general, great! In what, as far as we know, is an unprecedented move... We gathered some of the very designers who've helped to mold & inspire the GWG Collection. It was a day of champagne-sipping, idea exchanging and, of course, gorgeous photographs taken by the incomparable Lelah Foster. Kelly Barry of KELLY B COUTURE (back row, center) This season Kelly B Couture is all about refined and relaxed rocker chic. Inspired by various women in her life - Kelly found that the 2 common wardrobe wants of the very different women she approached were 1) wearability and 2) confidence. Being the eco-queen of effortless chic, Ms. Barry added a rock-n-roll edge to her Fall silhouettes with metal stud details contrasted with oh-so-soft materials like hemp jersey... and this season's beautiful looks were born! We adore this collection because it's for the woman who's juggling it all - and still feels amazing doing so. Lizz Wasserman of POPOMOMO (front row, left) Popomomo stands for post-post modern movement which designer Lizz Wasserman explores through clothing. Instead of floating in relative perspectives and endlessly reworking the past, her work focuses on the new and true. Lizz is currently taking her inspiration from what she calls Popomomo's ultimate muse: Nancy Drew and LA Film Noir. The Fall/Winter '09 collection features pieces that go from day to date and are perfect for sleuthing, with big pockets and seductive shapes. We've found Popomomo's edgy vibe a surprisingly perfect fit for us and the GWG client... she's style-driven, a bit of a risk-taker and a whole lot Nancy Drew-ish. Fahmina of FAHMINA (back row, left) Raised in New York, by way of Bangladesh, Kuwait, and London, the gorgeous Fahmina gives new life to scrap leather with her stylish and chic accessories. DonÕt let the words fanny pack scare you Ð FahminaÕs revival of the once dreaded hip clutch is living proof that high eco-style can often be found in the most unlikely of places. Having spent the last three years designing leather accessories, Fahmina describes her design theory as Òenlightenment through artÓ. We love her style for it's bold use of color and metallics as well as her brilliant methods of re-use. Jadie Kadletz of PI ORGANIC (front row, right) PI Organic (also know as Perfectly Imperfect) is a real stand out line for easy, eco chic. The pieces are tailored and relaxed at the same time and the colors are deep, rich and vibrant... these may sound like contradictory elements, but Jadie makes them work! Basing her work of the Chinese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi which celebrates simplicity, uniqueness and they idea that perfection is a myth. PI Organic pieces work for day and night, from the farmer's market to a film premiere. We love the line for it's pracitcal and understated edge paired with it's versatile and timeless designs! Deana Bracken of GREEN WITH GLAMOUR/DEANA BRACKEN DESIGN (back row, right) In 2006, Deana, an interior designer & tv producer by trade - and a shopper by pure passion, found herself struggling to find a reliable and style-driven resource for fashion, furnishings & gifts that were what we now call "green". Hell bent on creating the collection that she failed to find existing already, Deana approached her longtime friend, Kathleen Rowan, and together they cultivated what is today Green With Glamour. Continually inspired by the designers who contribute to the GWG Collection - and the shared dedication to preserve this Earth's precious resources, Deana and Kat like to think of themselves as the Peggy Guggenheim's of Eco-Design. And in order to keep her creative claws sharp, Deana has taken to using delicious, but discarded scraps of wallpaper, fabrics & paints to create her one-of-a-kind Deana Bracken Design decorative pillows and animal silhouettes.
